The Vodice Riviera has been a desirable place for short and long stays since the Iron Age of prehistory. Vodice town, Srima, Tribunj and the surrounding area offer opportunities for recreation for the mind and body alike. Every visitor to the Vodice Riviera can certainly find plenty of rest and entertainment. At every corner, your hosts will try to lure you with fresh fish prepared in every way imaginable, as well as wine and song, to delight all your senses.
Vodice Riviera treasures its history in a modern setting
Quiet nocturnal music could trick you into thinking the Vodice Riviera was always a tranquil place. Archeological finds both on dry land and below the sea, as well as numerous cultural monuments of interest point to a tumultuous, pugnacious past.
In Vodice town center, the courtyard of the Ćorić tower, the preserved part of a defensive rampart dating back to the Turkish conquests, doubles as a summer outdoor cinema. The Church of the Holy Cross successfully combines modern artworks with rural fifteenth-century architecture, while fourteen chapels along orderly tracks take the visitor to the church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel on Okit hill and its unique vantage point.
Together with its left-hand and right-hand neighbors, the docile and hospitable Srima and the picturesque fishing town Tribunj, Vodice town completes a fantastic trio of Northern Dalmatia's tourist offer.
An adrenaline holiday on the Vodice Riviera
Your ideal holiday is hard to imagine without an adrenaline rush? You can find natural beauty and historical wealth of the Vodice Riviera below sea as well - there are plenty of diving clubs to help you with that. Or why not let the waves carry you to the hundred or so islands and reefs of the Kornati National park, a true sailor's paradise. The Krka river canyon and falls, another national park, are also near at hand.
Logorun island, the world's first donkey reservation and "headquarters", is visible from the beaches between Tribunj and Vodice, as is Prvić island, the holiday destination for Croatian nobility from the sixteenth century. It was later used as a safe haven for the population fleeing Turkish raids.
If you feel safer on dry land, ride a bicycle or a motorbike and head to nearby Šibenik at the mouth of Krka river or the six-thousand-year-old "Croatian Troy", an archeological site near Skradin, a pearl of a city on the Krka.
The musical Vodice Riviera
Miles and miles of beaches bring music lovers to Vodice town. A capella folk choirs perform each Wednesday, in keeping with Dalmatian tradition. The Jazz festival Vodice, a showcase festival of Croatian discography, as well as the numerous nightclubs of the Vodice Riviera round up the tastes of the listeners of all generations. If you head west from Vodice, the traditional donkey racing and fishermen's feasts of Tribunj are guarantees of a good time. The perfect destination for summer family fun.
