Riviera Raša

Raša Riviera

A little riviera of the Istrian peninsula – Raša Riviera – centers around a town of the same name and settlement Trget. Though not big, both offer you a great array of opportunities to have a relaxing and enjoyable vacation.

Raša was build in accordance with ideas of modern architecture and the whole town was planned and designed by just one man – Gustav Pulitzer Finali, an architect from Trieste. He envisioned a town adapted to the 21st century and situated it perfectly in the green Istrian valley enriched with Krapan – a tributary of the Raša river after which the town was named.

Today Raša Riviera is one of the most scenic landscapes of modern design, often compared to art paintings. So why not get away from the everyday stress and take a relaxing vacation in environment enriched with supreme architecture?l

Black gold of Raša Riviera in the context of modern architecture

Raša town is situated along the valley of Krapan brook. Although originally built to serve the needs of miners working in the nearby coal mines, today Raša gives a new meaning to its history of town planning and proudly emphasizes its value in the context of contemporary urbanism.
Namely, Raša encompasses the concept of a linear industrial town proposed by one of the most famous architects – Le Corbusier. Situated at the central square, the church of St. Barbara – patron saint of miners – resembles an overturned coal wagon with a bell tower shaped as a miner's lamp. Moreover, within the tower there's a museum dedicated to miners and their life.

Raša Riviera – a perfect place for a family vacation

Surrounded by untouched nature, settlement Trget nests at the very shores of Raša Bay. This fishermen settlement, named after Latin word denoting transfer of people and goods from one side of the bay to the other (lat. traiectum), hides the remains of St. Juraj church – a Romanesque style church with an outward apse.
The sides od Raša Bay are steep and inaccessible, overgrown with indigenous Mediterranean vegetation which gives the special ambient of this Istrian village in Raša Riviera that extra touch. Peaceful surroundings and untouched nature are specially suitable for families with kids, but gourmands and nature lovers will also be more than pleased.

Both cultural and historical pleasures on a green-blue coast

Idyllic towns of Raša Riviera - Raša, the youngest town in Istria and Trget – are just the right places for a peaceful relaxation in nature. Moreover, the perfect coexistence of architecture and environment is more than enough for a complete distancing from the stress of everyday life.
One day excursion to the nearby villages offer you a great chance for entertainment and discovery of Istria's both cultural and historical treats. Labin, a "paradise for artists", is dotted with numerous ateliers. Rabac will meet you with its green hills and crystal blue sea. The nearby Marčana Riviera hides the metropolis of Histri (prehistoric tribe after whom Istria was named). The rich and diverse offer of Pula city, nested at the southwestern part of Croatia's largest peninsula, greets you with the best preserved Roman amphitheater - amazing Arena.
