Visas for Croatia

How to get a Croatian visa?

Russian passport on the beach

Citizens of Russian Federation and the Republic of Ukraine (as well as other citizens of non-EU countries) for tourist visit or transit through Croatia need a visa.

Pursuant to the decision of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, from January 1st 2014, all foreign nationals who are holders of valid Schengen documents, are not required to have additional (Croatian) visa for transit or to enter Croatia for a short-term stay (up to 90 days).

Those who do not own the above mentioned documents must obtain a visa, and they can submit application for visa no sooner than three months prior to their travel. Since great number of tourist travellers are expected to come from these countries, the issuance procedure has been simplified and speeded up.

The average time of waiting is 5 working days, and the fee is 35€ for the citizens of Russia, Ukraine, Georgia and Kosovo as well as children (who are citizens of these countries) aged 6 to 12 years old.

For citizens of other countries visa fee is 60 €.

There is no fee for children younger than 6.

The procedure is very simple – it is enough to fill in visa application form and enclose the following documents:

  • valid travel document
  • color photo 35x45 mm
  • valid travel health insurance
  • proof of payment of visa fee
  • documents that prove the purpose of journey, ensured accommodation, means of subsistence during the journey and stay, means of transport and intent for return to the country of origin

Visa application can be downloaded from the Internet website of Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs https://crovisa.mvep.hr. On the same site the application status can be followed after the application has been made.

One can apply for visa at the embassies or official visa centres.
