The best beaches of the Ugljan Island | Top 5

Print Published: 01/06/2018

It's very hard to pick just one beach on the island of Ugljan, so we chose even five pebbly, sandy and concrete beaches for you to consider visiting. Keep on reading and you might even find your next favorite Croatian beach among them!

1. Batalaža beach

The fishermen's town of Kali will delight you with its traditional Mediterranean atmosphere. But so will the beaches hidden there. Most of the guests who find themselves there pick Balataža as their first swimming spot. Located in a little bay, this pebbly beach with a concrete section is ideal for those who enjoy soaking up the sun. There's a cafe on the beach and you can easily get a refreshment after a long day of swimming and sunbathing.

If you forget to bring your own parasol and feel uncomfortable while lying on pebbles and rocks, no worries. You can rent parasols and sunbeds on the beach.

2. Jaz beach

You can also find sandy beaches on Ugljan! One of them is located in the town of Preko where the ferry docks. This big, lovely beach will thrill kids and parents alike. In addition to the sand, the water is shallow so kids can carefreely enjoy their time in the sand. There are also slides for kids, restaurants, pizzeria, toilets. If you come by car, there is a parking lot only 10 m away from the beach. Along the beach, there is a boardwalk ideal for making romantic sunset memories.

Pretty close to the beach, there is the island of Galevac, also know as the island of Školjić. It is so close to the shore that you can swim to it. Right at the center of this island, there is a Franciscan monastery and St. Paul's church dating from the 15th century. If you'll feel like swimming and exploring, take a tour along the bays of this forested island which hides isolated beaches.

3. Velika Sabuša

Another beach often prefered by families with children is a concrete beach Velika Sabuša in the town of Kukljica. The beach is located in a protected bay. It is surrounded by lush Mediterranean trees, the sea is shallow, and there are slides for kids on the beach. The bay is exposed to sun so be careful and make sure not to get sunburnt. There are toilets on the beach, and the parking lot is only a 5 min walk away.

4. Mostir beach

Mostir beach is one of the most popular beaches on the island of Ugljan. This sandy beach is located in a little bay. Because of the sand and shallow water, the beach is very popular among families with children during summer. There is a cafe and a restaurant near to the beach. If you wish to get some shade, rent parasols and sunbeds.

Mostir beach can get crowded during summer, but you can avoid the crowds if you come early in the morning or late in the afternoon.

5. Južna Luka

Another popular beach on the island of Ugljan is the Južna Luka beach located near the village of Muline. Just like Mostir beach, this beach is sandy so it is ideal for kids' play in the sand. Besides being sandy, the beach is memorable because of its unusual look. Big rocks are spread across the beach.

There are no amenities so don't forget to bring a lot of water, a bite to eat and sunscreen.
