The most exquisite region of Croatia, stretching across unprecedented golden plains, strong rivers and green forests, spanned by tradition, myths and legends. Because of the fact that it is not yet fully discovered, it attracts a large number of people seeking new excitement in Croatia.
Slavonia is home to some of the largest and unique natural wonders in Europe such as Nature Park Kopački rit or a sprinkled water source in Bizovac where the water temperature is as high as 96 degrees. In Slavonia, you will also find some of the "greenest" cities of interesting architecture and cultural heritage, most influenced by the Habsburg Monarchy. You will be thrilled by Osijek, the fourth largest city in Croatia, which is considered the center of this region, and Đakovo, located 35 km south of Osijek where you must visit the pride of the city, the wonderful neo-Romanesque cathedral of St. Peter, whose construction required an incredible 7 million bricks. Do not miss the renowned Lipizzaner, a noble purebred noble horse whose lineage can be traced back to the 16th century.
Take a break with a glass of quality Slavonian wine. The tradition of wine production has been recorded since the Roman Empire. The best place for a real gastronomic adventure is in Ilok, the easternmost Croatian town. It is interesting that in Ilok wine cellars are located in almost every street and hills with vineyards surround the town. The varieties you can taste and buy in Ilok are: grayling, chardonnay, white pinot, gray pinot, Rhine risling, silvanac and white train, pinot black, frankovka and cabernet sauvignon from black varieties.
